About POP ETC:

Pop Etc, formerly known as the Morning Benders, comes to the Popscene stage from New York, even though we know these guys grew up in Berkeley. Come out to this show and welcome these guys to the Bay Area. You guys may have switched coasts but we know you're Nor Cal, true and blue - we got five on it.

About VIOLENS:

Violens was formed in 2007 by Jorge Elbrecht (a producer, multi-instrumentalist and founding member of Lansing-Dreiden) with Iddo Arad and Myles Matheny. Their debut album 'Amoral' was self-recorded, self-produced, and is best understood as digital collage; a dark, guitar and synth-pop voyage of melodic and rhythmic collision.

Violens' new album, "True", finds the Brooklyn three-piece further amplifying their innovative songwriting with a palette of exquisitely crafted sound. The band's music eludes classification, expertly blending percussive guitar work and silky harmonies, seeking the silver lining yet to be discovered between the sounds we know and love. With a wash of 90's sonic pop drawn from artists like Pale Saints, Cocteau Twins and McCarthy, Violens paint soft watercolor notes across their compositions, adding crucial emotional depth via layered vocal harmonies. Violens condemns the very age we live in by singing it – twisting and mutating it – mutilating it, wearing its skin.

About STRANGE TALK:

Australia keeps exporting great new music, evidenced yet again by what I’m hearing from the band Strange Talk. The group combines musical talents from different backgrounds; the ‘vocalist/producer Stephen Docker immersed in the classical world, playing violin for the Australian Youth Orchestra and bassist/producer Gerard Sidhu, crafting house and electro as a regular fixture on the Melbourne DJ circuit’. After months of songwriting together the result is a self-titled EP, released by US tastemaker label Neon Gold. Combine this news with the fact that the band has opening for the likes of The Rapture, Neon Indian and Marina & The Diamonds, expect to see this band on many a radars. - indiemusicfilter.com
